NZ comedy legend, Ben Hurley, headlines The Monkey Theatre in Whitianga!!
Irish comedian, Alan McElroy hosts the show & other local comedic guests will be there on the night along with the hilarious, Vaughan King
Ben has conquered the toughest of crowds and reviewers alike and is adept at tailoring his material and persona to what the event requires. He consistently sells out shows at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and has toured to country many times, on his own as part of the Real NZ Comedy Tours and of course the 7 Days Live Tours.
Ben is widely recognised from his regular appearances on THREE's 7Days, The Project, and is now a regular contributor on TVNZ's Seven Sharp. He has had numerous other TV appearances with several Comedy Galas, AotearoHa, hosting After Hours, Funny Roots, @Seven, Ben & Steve World Famous In and most recently Patriot Brains.
Alan McElroy is an award winning Irish comedian, living in New Zealand. He is fresh from a sold out run with The Full Irish & The Comedy Pub Crawl at Melbourne International Comedy Festival and also a regular guest on RNZ’s The Panel. He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, Electric Picnic & performed to sold out crowds around New Zealand with his Irish & Scottish comedy show, Booze & Craic.
☆☆☆☆☆ “Excellent Irish story teller performing a hilarious night of comedy” Funny Tonne, Melbourne International Comedy Festival
☆☆☆☆ "What McElroy lacks in number of retweets and social media savvy, he makes up for in spades with his comical prowess and jovial energy live on stage."
Appetite for the Arts
“A very enjoyable hour of comedy.. There is never a dull moment, as McElroy’s is able to find the funny side of any situation..” - The Speakeasy
☆☆☆☆☆ "Alan McElroy is the Energizer Bunny of the comedy world! Comically bouncing around the stage with a full AA battery, never once falling flat!"
2021 and 2022 also sees Ben finally fulfil a life goal of commentating cricket with the Alternative Commentary Collective, and chucking in a few thoughts about rugby league on the Mad Monday podcast. Of course, he'd rather be out in the middle, but this is a very close second. Like when they decide who wins by counting boundaries (never forget, never)
